How is a folding umbrella different from the stick umbrellas in the rest of the catalog?

A folding umbrella has a telescopic shaft that collapses down to a compact length for a bag or suitcase, while a stick umbrella has a fixed-length shaft built for everyday carrying rather than travel. Folding designs trade some canopy size for portability.

Which manufacturers make Artisan Umbrellas' folding umbrellas?

Il Marchesato makes 114 of the 208 styles, with Pasotti making the remaining 94; both offer folding versions across most of their handle and pattern lines.

Are folding umbrellas still handmade with the same materials as the full-size line?

Yes — folding umbrellas in this collection use the same range of leather, wood, brass, and jeweled handle options, and the same canopy patterns, as the full-size stick umbrellas. The compact mechanism doesn't mean a downgrade in materials.

Why are folding umbrellas generally less expensive than stick umbrellas?

The telescopic frame and smaller canopy require less material and are a more standardized construction than a one-piece wood stick or an elaborately jeweled full-size handle, which is reflected in the lower price ceiling for this collection.

What's the price range for folding umbrellas?

Prices run from about $157 to $480, making this the most accessible collection in the catalog.

Are folding umbrellas suitable as gifts?

Yes — every umbrella ships in a gift box, and the compact size makes this collection a practical gift choice for frequent travelers.
